Watch: ‘Hocus Pocus 3’ Is Officially in the Works
Oh, look—another glorious Hocus Pocus flick. Makes me psyched.
It’s hard to believe the iconic Disney movie starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the three witchy, witty and wicked Sanderson sisters who return from the dead thanks to a virgin lighting the Black Flame candle came out in 1993.
But now we’re set to be treated to a third installment of the franchise, years after the OG Sanderson trio were reunited for a long-awaited sequel, to the delight of Disney+ viewers.
While Midler told E! News back in 2023 she wasn’t sure if they’d have the chance to hop back on their brooms—”Everything is weird,” she told E!, “I don’t know, maybe?”— she’s always been down for another glorious round.
“If there was a third one, of course I’d sign on,” she noted to Entertainment Weekly in 2022. “I can’t imagine what the story would be, but I love Winifred, Sarah, Mary and our relationship. It’s good for women. We stick together through hell and high water, but we do cause mayhem, and not many women cause that much mayhem!”
And now that the plot for a third outing has put a spell on her…
“They sent a script. And a lot of it was brilliant,” Midler explained while appearing on Watch What Happens Live last October. “So, I got very excited. And now we’re trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things.”
In the decades since she and her onscreen sisters first ran amok, amok, amok, Hocus Pocus—directed by High School Musical‘s Kenny Ortega—has become a spooky season staple, flying onto TV screens each October.
So in honor of its 33rd Halloween, we’re delivering all the treats. Sitting down with E! News, Ortega and his stars Omri Katz, Thora Birch, Vinessa Shaw and Doug Jones blew us away with a series of behind-the-scenes secrets.
Don’t worry, cat definitely doesn’t have our tongue. Hop on your vacuum cleaner broom and suck up these fun facts about Hocus Pocus.
