    Watch: Eddie Murphy Shares His Son Eric and Martin Lawrence’s Daughter Jasmin Welcomed First Baby

    The Murphy-Lawrence family is expanding.

    Eddie Murphy confirmed that his son Eric Murphy and Martin Lawrence’s daughter Jasmin Lawrence welcomed their first baby together, a little girl named Ari Skye.

    “They just had a baby girl,” Eddie exclusively told E! News at the American Film Institute achievement award ceremony April 18. “They just had her two weeks ago, or a week ago. Yeah, Ari Skye.”

    As for any parenting advice the 65-year-old has for the couple’s next chapter?

    “Oh, you don’t give advice like that,” he explained. “You know, your kids don’t go by your advice. Your kids go by the example you set. They watch you.”

    “The stuff you be saying, they don’t even pay that s–t no mind,” he quipped. “They watch and see what you do. So, I don’t give a lot of advice.”

    Though the Emmy winner—who was being honored with the Life Achievement Award at the 51st annual event, airing on Netflix May 31—isn’t keen on offering words of wisdom to his 10 kids, he did share how his success as a dad will always trump his professional achievement.

    “My legacy to me isn’t my work,” he shared. “My legacy to me is my children. So, that’s my legacy.”

    “This is a wonderful thing, though, to be honored,” he shared of receiving the award. “I have to make movies for so, so long. So, it’s a wonderful thing to recognize because I did my thing.”

    Jasmin, 30, and Eric, 36, announced they were welcoming their first baby together eight months after tying the knot in a private wedding ceremony.

    “Thank you Jesus,” the couple captioned a Feb. 2 Instagram post featuring a black-and-white photo of Eric cradling Jasmin’s baby bump, “for the greatest gift.”

    Following the news, Martin—dad to three daughters—couldn’t contain his excitement with being promoted to granddad status.

    “What a blessing to start the day!” the comedian wrote on Instagram. “My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude after the announcement of my first grandchild!”

    “Watching [Jasmin] and [Eric] begin this journey into parenthood means everything to me,” the 61-year-old continued. “Family is everything—and this moment is nothing less than a blessing from God. Welcome to the next generation!”

    Daughter Bria MurphyBria is Eddie’s oldest daughter with Nicole, born in November 1989 about four months after Eric.And she’s inherited dad’s love of acting. In 2024, she made a cameo as a fellow officer in his film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. In fact, the movie was a full family affair as her husband Michael Xavier was also in the film.Bria was admittedly a little nervous to take on the role.”I’m a daddy’s girl,” she told Entertainment Tonight in June 2024. “So I didn’t want to hurt him. I was scared I was gonna pinch him with the cuffs, all of that. But it was a lot of fun. Alongside a picture of his relatives at the premiere of Eddie’s 2016 movie Mr. Church, Christian wrote, “Best looking family in #america.”

    Son Myles MurphyMyles, born in November 1992, is Eddie’s youngest son with Nicole. And while he doesn’t lead a largely public life, he has made a few red carpet appearances over the years, including at the premieres of his dad’s movies Mr. Church, The Nutty Professor and Still, Myles’ wife Carly Murphy (they wed in September 2023) has given a few glimpses into their life with daughters Evie (born in July 2019) and Zuri (arriving in October 2024) on Instagram—including sweet moments with their grandfather Eddie.”She’s calling me Papa,” the Shrek star told Vanity Fair in 2020, months after Evie was born. “She can’t talk yet. In November 2018, Eddie and Paige welcomed son Max. “But don’t expect Eddie or Paige, who wed in July 2024, to post photos of their kids on Instagram—mainly because they don’t have accounts.”I had Facebook for about a year, then I moved on to Instagram, got rid of both,” the Australian model told Vanity Fair in 2013, “went to Twitter, then eventually got rid of all of them.”The reason?”I’m in a relationship with a celebrity, so I felt like there’s already enough of me out there,” she continued. “I felt like I was giving out too much information.
