Dave Franco Jokingly Reveals His, Alison Brie’s “Wild” Nights in Bed

As Franco emphasized, “That night that Dave made us come and do a dog pile with his wife and his cats.”

Hopefully, the trio and Brie can make that plan happen as they continue on their press tour for their DreamWorks animated film.

In the fantasy adventure movie, Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano), two lifelong friends, get trapped in the mystical world of Nakali. But to escape, it may just cost them their lifetime of shared memories together.

As for what drew Franco—who voices Raww in the film—to the project? 

“First and foremost, the directors,” he admitted, heaping praise on Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado. “These are the guys who made Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, an objectively incredible animated movie. And when I first talked to them, they were referencing movies that I loved.”

“They were talking about how Forgotten Island has a similar structure to The Hangover and similar friendship themes to Superbad and other themes to Eternal Sunshine,” he recalled, “and so I just immediately knew, like, ‘Oh, I feel like we have similar sensibilities.’”

He also resonated with his character in the film, a weredog who acts as a guide for Jo and Raissa. 

“I think there’s some crossover with who I am in real life,” he explained. “The people that he loves, he loves deeply; he’s a very loyal guy, and you know, deep down, he just wants to be loved. I can relate.”
