Watch: Proof Drake’s 8-Year-Old Son Adonis Is Truly His Mini-Me
When that hotline bling, that can only mean one thing.
Well, in this case at least, it’s probably a birthday message for Drake, who turns 40 Oct. 24.
And you could say the rapper’s 30s were nonstop. During this time, Drake—a.k.a. Aubrey Graham—released seven studio albums (three this year alone), won four Grammys and was named Billboard’s Artist of the Decade in 2021. Of course, there were also his headline-making romances as well as his public feud with Kendrick Lamar.
But perhaps one of the biggest plot twists for Drake was becoming dad to son Adonis with Sophie Brussaux, which he revealed on his 2018 album Scorpion following speculation the year before.
“I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world,” he rapped on the “Emotionless” track. “I was hidin’ the world from my kid.”
Two years later, Drake introduced Adonis to the world by sharing the first photos of his then-2-year-old.
“I want to be able to go places with my son and share memories with my son,” he explained on Young Money Radio With Lil Wayne in 2020. “I don’t want to feel like just because of a life choice I made to be, you know, a ‘celebrity’ that I gotta make everybody live under this blanket.”
Since then, the “God’s Plan” artist has continued to give glimpses into his life with the 9-year-old—from birthday parties to the first day of school. Adonis has even accompanied the Degrassi alum at award shows, Toronto Raptors games and in his music videos, including “8am in Charlotte,” “My Man Freestyle” and “Dust.”
And the bond the two share will leave you in your feelings.
“Thank you for giving me such a good life and a good family,” Adonis wrote in a letter reshared to Drake’s Instagram in 2024, per People. “I love you dad.”
So yes, you could say life is good for the father-son duo. And when it comes their sweet moments, no need to ask, “What did I miss?” Just scroll on to see photos Drake and Sophie have shared of Adonis over the years.
