No, the Indianapolis Colts would not be in the playoff if the season ended today. At 2-2, they are tied with four other teams for the seventh and final berth. Here’s the seeding:

7. New England: Wins tiebreaker due to 2-1 conference record
8. Denver: Gets the 8 seed due to 1-1 conference record
9. Pittsburgh: Division tiebreakers are determined first so Cincinnati is eliminated due to head-to-head; the Steelers have the strength of victory tiebreaker over Colts
10. Indianapolis
11. Cincinnati
NFL.com gives the Colts a 39% chance of making the playoffs, 9th best in the AFC. Playoffstatus.com has them at 45%, 10th-best odds in the AFC.
Obviously, Sunday’s game against the Steelers is potentially a big one for playoff seeding.
The Colts are also one-game out of the AFC South with two games to play against the Jaguars.

It’s way too early to focus on tiebreakers but the Colts have legitimate playoff hopes (for now).
