In an announcement Tuesday morning, the OneCity candidate shared he’s withdrawing his name for consideration as Vancouver’s next mayor.

The move is being made in an effort to avoid splitting votes among progressive candidates and in hopes of pushing Mayor Ken Sim out of office.

“In order to get Ken Sim out, we have to unite behind a single progressive mayoral candidate,” he told media during a news conference outside Vancouver City Hall.

Following his withdrawal, he threw his support behind Pete Fry, current city councillor and mayoral candidate for the Green Party of Vancouver.
