The PNE Summer Night Concert series continues its roll out of this year’s lineup with the second announcement of performers.

Having already announced perennial PNE faves Blue Rodeo, Canadian rock legends the Guess Who, Toronto rockers the Beaches, ’90s rap hitmaker Nelly and EDM star Zedd, the next five acts are every bit as varied.

The second group of acts appearing at this year’s fair includes Mt. Joy, Punjabi Virsa, Train, Barenaked Ladies and Broadway and film star Cynthia Erivo backed by the VSO.

Fair creative director Patrick Roberge could hardly contain his excitement about Erivo.

“We are one of the first fairs to bring in Cynthia with an orchestra, and I think it’s going to be amazing,” he said. “The PNE is not just ’90s bands anymore. Those artists are still very popular and a part of the experience, but we can really mix it up, too.”

Roberge noted that Nelly was one of the most-requested return acts with fair-goers.

“After he played the fair in 2022, we were constantly getting requests to bring him back,” said Roberge. “So OK, we’re bringing him back. It’s all fun for us.”
