Watch: The Pitt’s Patrick Ball Has Hilarious Reaction to More Potential Cast Changes
Noah Wyle is gloving up for season three of The Pitt.
Following season two—which centered around a 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center on the Fourth of July, ten months after the harrowing events from the first season—the show’s star and executive producer revealed when the medical drama’s upcoming season will take place.
As Noah explained, it’s important to “give a little bit of difference of season because that sometimes gives you more variety of cases.”
“In the wintertime, you get more car accidents, more black ice, more boilers exploding and that kind of stuff,” he told People in an interview published April 17. “Different wardrobe, different vibe.”
That said, the 54-year-old noted “the plan” for season three is to focus on “late fall.”
As for how the series’ writing team goes about choosing a date for their seasons?
“Just close our eyes,” Noah quipped, “flip a calendar and throw a dart.”
Though the ins and outs of season three have yet to be revealed, there will be a major change in cast, with Supriya Ganesh exiting her role of Dr. Samira Mohan.
“It’s an inevitability that’s going to happen every season with this show because as writers we’re hard pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of this ensemble together realistically,” Noah—who plays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the medical drama—told Variety last month. “Emergency rooms have a high revolving door. As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the storylines fresh.”

Even so, the ER alum emphasized how much Supriya—whose resident character has been part of The Pitt since its inaugural season in 2025—will be missed.
“Obviously Supriya has been a huge part of our show since the beginning,” he explained. “Dr. Mohan is a beloved character, and I love playing with her and working with Supriya, and we wish her all the best in her next endeavors, and we’re going to miss her.”
