Watch: What Ashley Tisdale Texted Meghan Trainor After “Toxic” Mom Group Drama
Meghan Trainor is takin’ it back to some recent drama.
Three months afterAshley Tisdale detailed her decision to exit a “toxic” celebrity mom group in a personal essay, the “All About That Bass” singer shared insight into their private conversation in its aftermath.
“I texted all of them,” Meghan—whose friendship with Ashley, as well as fellow moms Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore had been documented online—told Us Weekly in an interview published April 15. “Ashley texted me like, ‘I’m sorry, your name got dragged in.'”
She added, “I was like, ‘It’s all right, girl. The world’s a silly, crazy place, and they just want something to talk about.'”
Meghan also said she “felt bad” for Ashley after reading her essay in The Cut, in which the High School Musical alum detailed how she exited the group after being repeatedly left out of social gatherings.
“I felt bad that she was ever that sad, and I think it was just a lot of miscommunication and confusion,” the 32-year-old—mom to kids Riley, 5, and Barry, 2, with husband Daryl Sabara—added. “I don’t know what happened, but I wish them all the best.”
Indeed, Meghan was not involved in the drama. She previously set the record straight in a January 12 TikTok video of herself lip-syncing Stranger Things‘ Holly Wheeler pleading, “Please, you have to believe me.”
Over the clip, she wrote, “Me still trying to convince everyone I’m not involved in the mom group drama.”
She captioned the post, “I swear I’m innocent.”
As for the moms Ashley—who shares daughters Jupiter, 5, and Emerson, 19 months, with husband Christopher French—wrote about in her essay? While the 40-year-old has not publicly identified them, she does not believe they’re “bad people.”

“At first, I tried not to take things personally,” the Frenshe founder wrote in her essay. “It’s not like people aren’t allowed to get together without me—and maybe there were perfectly good reasons that I hadn’t been invited. We were all busy, life was hectic. I told myself it was all in my head and it wasn’t a big deal.”
She eventually came to believe that being left out was intentional and decided to distance herself, texting the group, “‘I don’t want to take part in it anymore.'”
As Ashley explained, “I do think our group dynamic stopped being healthy and positive—for me, anyway.”
