Two people are in critical condition after a shooting at a gas station in Surrey.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, Surrey police were called to the Chevron station in the 7100-block of 152nd Street.

“Officers arrived and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds and administered emergency medical aid,” said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton in a news release.

Paramedics took the men to hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

The SPS major crime section is investigating and will be gathering evidence. The intersection at 72nd Avenue and 152nd Street is expected to be closed through much of the morning.

There are no suspect descriptions and the motive is unknown, but Houghton said extortion is not believed to be a factor.
