The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has declared force majeure on the 132kV Birnin Kebbi-Niamey transmission line following the collapse of three transmission towers in Kebbi State.
TCN disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying towers T109, T110 and T111 collapsed at Chibike Village after heavy rainfall and a wind storm.
The company said the transmission line tripped at 5:38 p.m. on August 26, 2026, while a trial reclosure carried out at 6:03 p.m. was unsuccessful as the line tripped again immediately.
Following the incident, TCN said its linesmen embarked on a fault-finding patrol, during which they discovered the three collapsed towers.
