Watch: Susan Boyle Reveals Relationship Status in Rare Life Update
Susan Boyle doesn’t dream of settling down.
The 65-year-old, who became an overnight sensation thanks to her 2009 Britain’s Got Talent audition during which she shared she’d never been kissed, revealed that she’s too focused on the successful music career that followed to think about getting married.
“Who said I am getting engaged? It’s too late for that,” Susan told The Sun in a feature published June 4, shutting down speculation about a diamond she rocks on her ring finger. “I don’t have the time for a boyfriend. But watch this space.”
In the 17 years since her debut performance of “I Dreamed a Dream,” the Scottish vocalist has been busy releasing seven studio albums. Still, when Susan does eventually make time for dating, she prefers to do it the traditional way.
“I’ll keep going, but I won’t use anything like Tinder,” Susan explained. “The only Tinder I know is a tinderbox. I don’t do that kind of cherry-picking online, and I won’t do that. I’d much rather find someone in a natural way.”
But though Susan might not be looking for love, she still manages to attract attention. After all, the “Who I Was Born To Be” singer—who started dating her first boyfriend at 53—is proud of her recent glamorous glow-up, including a chic blonde bob, coinciding with her partnership with ice cream brand Cornetto.
“I was out a couple of weeks ago and some builders started shouting at me. I ignored it at first,” Susan recalled. “They shouted, ‘Oi missus’. I looked around and they shouted, ‘Hey missus, you with the big bum!’ —you get some cheeky men around.”

As for the key to looking and feeling her best as a single woman, SuBo—as her loyal fans have nicknamed her—prefers to keep it simple.
As Susan quipped, “My secret? It’s staying out of trouble.”
