When Alan Bersten Realized He, Emma Slater Could Be More Than Friends

And as Emma puts it, the “busy bits are fun too.” In fact, she emphasized that dancing through the ups and downs in life is better when she and Alan are together.

“If you find enjoyment in that,” Emma explained. “And you’re able to support each other whilst doing seemingly stressful things, it’s not so stressful.”

Although it’s only been a year since the pair first debuted their romance when they kissed onstage during the final night of last year’s DWTS live tour, Alan and Emma are proving that they’re in it for the long haul.

After all, Emma, 37, shared that she’s excited for her future with Alan, 32, in a recent tribute to her boyfriend on his birthday.

“You are a pure soul and my favorite thing to do is to laugh with you. I hope we get to do more of that throughout our lives together,” she wrote in a May 26 Instagram post. “I already know the things that you want and desire are already yours or will inevitably get to you and so what I wish for you on this birthday is for you to continue following your happiness wherever that leads you. I know you will! I love you.”

As for what she also holds dear to her heart? Dancing With the Stars. And the professional dancer made it clear that she isn’t saying goodbye to the ABC reality competition series anytime soon.

“I am with this show for as long as I can,” Emma told E! News at the Race to Erase MS event. “As long as I’m here, I will give my all to the show. It’s made me who I am. It sounds kind of crazy to attribute a show to that, but I grew up with these people. I grew up doing what I love. And I’m on such an amazing platform.”

“It gives me so much happiness,” she added. “I’m very, very happy here. And I have no plans to retire from this show.”
