SEC Shorts, an online video series that pokes fun and highlights college football trends around the conference each week, is widely know for its creative characters.
This week, the cast invented a new “team identity character,” in recognition of Kentucky’s success, surging popularity and excited fanbase.

After Kentucky defeated No. 10 LSU 35-34 in overtime on Oct. 10, it was only fitting that the Wildcats became the focal point of this week’s episode. One of the creators, Josh Snead, promoted the new addition of “Scooter, the aggressive play-calling jockey.”
Scooter is featured in blue and white checkered silks, making his first appearance trotting around and mentioning Churchill Downs. (Fans quickly reacted to the post, by the way, insisting the crew should have mentioned Keeneland, instead.)
SEC Shorts has added new characters like this to celebrate success or poke fun at failure. The most recent notable character to date was Vanderbilt’s “Vandy King,” who appeared following the Commodores win over Virginia Tech in 2024.

“Vandy King” continues to appear in the episodes following wins, and as long as Will Stein has his Wildcats team moving in the right direction, don’t be surprised if Scooter the aggressive play-caller starts showing up more, as well.
