The Houston Texans brought running back David Montgomery in to take over as the No. 1 running back for Houston. However, he has proven to be inefficient through the first few games of the season and also left the Texans‘ win against the Tennessee Titans with an injury.
In Montgomery’s absence, last year’s leading rusher, Woody Marks, stepped in. Marks found some success on the ground with 62 rushing yards and an average of 4.1 yards per carry.

He was also involved in the passing game with four receptions for 23 yards. Head coach DeMeco Ryans provided an update on Montgomery and praised Marks for his performance against the Titans.
“He’ll still be week-to-week. As I mentioned, we’ll see how he continues to progress,” Ryans said. “Right now, we’re looking at a week-to-week injury there with the groin. Woody did a great job. He stepped in, he had some explosive runs, just made some dynamic cuts, played with great vision, good balance. He’s done a great job all season as well. He carried that load for us and we’ll continue to see more of that.”
Houston will travel to London for its next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Texans will be looking to get their second straight win after starting the year 0-4. Meanwhile, Jacksonville is 4-1 after their last-minute victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.
