Rohit Sharma will take the field again for India in the second ODI against West Indies at Guwahati, with the hosts leading the three-match series 1-0 after their comfortable chase in Thiruvananthapuram.
The former captain will be hoping to turn a promising start into something more substantial this time.

In the series opener, Sharma made a brisk 32 off 35 balls, an innings that featured three sixes and two fours and gave India a solid platform at the top of the order against the West Indies attack.
He was dismissed before he could push on to a big score, however, and it was left to Virat Kohli, who finished unbeaten on 139, and Shubman Gill, who scored a century, to complete a chase of 296 with 50 balls to spare.

Sharma’s most recent big innings came against England at Lord’s, where he scored a fine century of 138 in the third ODI on July 19.
India lost that match and, with it, the series, but the knock allowed the opener to quieten his critics after a difficult start to the contest, in which he managed only 11 and 26 in the first two games.
Including the West Indies opener, his last five ODI scores read as follows.
