Watch: See Robert Pattinson Channel ‘To Catch a Predator’ Host Chris Hansen in Chilling ‘Primetime’ Teaser
Robert Pattinson is catching a new role.
The Twilight alum is embarking on yet another chilling role in A24’s Primetime, set to hit theaters in the fall, where he portrays To Catch a Predator’s host Chris Hansen.
In a new teaser for the film released May 27, Pattinson is shown in Hansen’s signature suit and tie look, voicing over clips with a mysterious, high-pitched voice.
“What would have happened, if I wasn’t here?” the actor, as Hansen, saysin the teaser, mimicking what the Dateline host would say to predators in the mid-aughts series. “You see how this looks, right? At the end of the day, men must be held accountable for the decisions that he makes. Do you agree?”
As Pattinson continues his voiceover, the screen cuts to various security camera footage reminiscent of the To Catch a Predator series, which ran on NBC from 2004 to 2007. In various clips, the Harry Potter alum’s costars Phoebe Bridgers and Skylar Gisondo are also shown.
“Do you watch television?” he continues as the clips rush together, building suspense. “Well there’s something you should know. I’m Chris Hansen of Dateline NBC. And you are about to be a part of television history.”
As the screen cuts to black, a woman’s voice can be heard saying, “We’re going to be the number one show on TV.”
Indeed, at its peak, To Catch a Predator was one of NBC’s top-rated hours of television, drawing over 6 million viewers per episode.

Ultimately, though, the Dateline franchise was discontinued amid a flurry of controversies, including when William Conradt Jr., an assistant district attorney in Texas, died by suicide in 2006 upon being discovered by the sting crew. Condradt’s sister later filed a $109 million lawsuit against NBC for his death, and the network settled for an undisclosed amount in 2008.
At the time, NBC and a lawyer for Conradt’s sister confirmed in a joint statement, “the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.”
As for host Hansen, he officially parted ways with NBC entirely in 2013, when his contract was not renewed. He started his podcast series Predators I’ve Caught, based on the Dateline franchise, in 2020.
