Watch: Prince Harry Calls Move Back to the U.K. With Meghan Markle and Kids “Eventful”
Prince Harryand Meghan Markle have had a royally busy September.
As the couple continues to embrace their new life in the United Kingdom with their kids Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, the Duke of Sussex shared a glimpse into their adjustment.
“The last two weeks have been—it’s been eventful,” he told HELLO! magazine in an interview published Sept. 18. “We’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy.”
Meanwhile, the 41-year-old—who moved to California in 2020 with the Suits alum after taking a step back from their royal duties—is looking forward to working on his nonprofit the Invictus Games Foundation from his native England.
“It’s great,” he explained. “It’s wonderful to be back on British soil and really nice to see so many old faces and friends that came to this, and new faces as well, and new donors.”
“Most of all, my Invictus family,” Harry—who founded the organization that hosts the annual multi-sport event for wounded and disabled military service personnel in 2014—added, “It’s been a very special journey over the last 12 years.”
It has also been a month of change for the family of four, with Archie and Lilibet transferring schools two days after sessions began amid security concerns.
“The decision for the children to move schools was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” their spokesperson told the outlet in a Sept. 14 statement. “The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.”
The message concluded, “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

Although the couple returned to the U.K., the move isn’t permanent, with E! News previously learning that they are staying overseas for an extended period while still keeping their home in the U.S.
Meghan and Harry’s latest chapter surprised even them, with theSpare author—who, along with his wife, will continue to live as non-working royals—previously saying he didn’t believe they would ever return.
“I can’t see a world where I would be bringing my wife and kids back to the U.K. at this point,” he admitted to the BBC in May 2025. “The things that they’re going to miss is well, everything. I love my country. I always have, despite what some people in that country have done.”
