Police are investigating after human remains were found along a Langley river this weekend.

On Sunday, a member of the public was down at the creek bed of Nicomekl River, near 53A Avenue and 206 Street in Langley, when they found what appeared to be human remains.

Police brought in the B.C. Coroners Service to confirm the remains were those of a human.

Const. Meghan Marsden said the remains have not yet been identified due to being exposed to weather and the river.

“Our investigators are working in close partnership with the B.C. Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the death,” she said.

Langley RCMP have remained on site the past two days, while RCMP divers combed the riverbed for any items or additional remains.
