Akwa United have named defender Charles Etim as their new captain, DAILY POST reports.
Etim takes over the players’ leadership role from Ubong Essien, who joined Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side Katsina United at the end of last season.
The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles defender served as assistant captain last season.
Etim will lead a four-man leadership group that includes Flying Eagles defender Somto Nnoli, Paulinus Okon and goalkeeper Okechukwu Johnson.
Okon was named Akwa United’s Player of the Season last term.
Paul Offor’s side will begin their campaign against Ekiti United on Sunday, 8 November, at the Uyo Township Stadium.
