The Jacksonville Jaguars saw an impressive breakout season in 2025 from cornerback Montaric “Buster” Brown, and he was accordingly given a nice deal before free agency even started to ensure he returned to Jacksonville in 2026.
Last season, Brown showed that he could be a consistent starter and still perform well. He ended the season allowing a completion rate of just 54% on 68 targets, held opponents to just 10.4 yards per catch, had two interceptions, and forced nine pass breakups. Accordingly, all eyes are on him to see if he will continue to play at a high level.

Following day three of minicamp, head coach Liam Coen spoke at a press conference about Brown remaining confident and still showing up with a strong work ethic, even after landing his deal, as well as what he predicts for him in 2026.
“He’s always kinda played in practice with confidence,” Coen said. “There’s areas in which he can continue to improve, but, look, we signed him to a deal, and he comes out and is just… him. He’s practiced the same way, he’s approached the meetings and practices and games the same way since I’ve been here the whole time, so he’s consistent. He’s a pro. I think we’ll see another step from Buster this year in terms of confidence, especially in the red zone.”
Coen’s remarks echo recent comments from defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, who said Brown is still striving to improve at every level this offseason.

Brown was set to be a free agent this offseason, and signed a three-year, $33 million deal to return to the Jaguars. He is expected to be the Jaguars’ starting outside cornerback, alongside Travis Hunter, with Jourdan Lewis at nickel.
