Watch: Katie Thurston Undergoes Double Mastectomy Amid Stage 4 Breast Cancer Battle
Katie Thurston has turned the page on a difficult chapter of her cancer journey.
The Bachelorette alum officially underwent a double mastectomy procedure for her stage four breast cancer April 29, with her husband Jeff Arcuri sharing updates throughout the process, calling Katie a “beautiful badass.”
“She is in amazing hands and spirits are high,” Jeff—who tied the knot with Katie last March—wrote in an April 29 Instagram Story. “I’ll be updating everyone as soon as I can.”
As he waited, the comedian shared a glimpse into Katie’s pre-op routine, proving she was maintaining a light attitude toward the procedure. In one video, the 35-year-old poked fun at the way her hospital gown laid on her upper chest, making her breasts look huge.
“These are my new boobs actually,” she joked. “It’s for you, baby.”
Hours later, the comedian confirmed in a separate post, “Katie is out of surgery and everything went great.”
Indeed, Katie herself later provided an update, showing a video of her indulging in some hospital food and watching Monsters, Inc.
“Jeff is taking care of me so well,” Katie said as she panned the hospital room, pointingthe camera toward an empty chair by her bed, adding, “My sweet, sweet husband is staying the night right there.”
To which Jeff shrugged, “That’s all I need.”
Katie’s update on her cancer journey comes a little over a month after she confirmed she’d move forward with a double mastectomy, detailing that she’d also be taking a social media break along with it.

“I’m OK,” Katie assured her followers in a March 20 Instagram post. “I’m going to be OK. Just need a reset.”
The FBoy Island alum went on to thank her followers for their ongoing support, adding, “F–k cancer.”
Indeed, Katie shared she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025, later sharing it had progressed to stage four with mets in her liver a month later. Earlier this year, she admitted to People she felt it had been “three lifetimes” since her diagnosis.
And explaining why she chose to opt for the double mastectomy despite the unclear results? Katie simply added, “I want to do everything I can to increase my chances.”
