Watch: Kate Hudson Reveals Her Dream of Working With Mom Goldie Hawn
Kate Hudson isn’t running away from a family project.
The Running Point star revealed she would be jazzed to star alongside her family—including mom Goldie Hawn and stepdad Kurt Russell—in a Hollywood blockbuster.
Joking that working with her loved ones “could be a disaster” in an exclusive interview with E! News, Kate shared her undying “respect for every actor in our family.”
“My mom and I were talking about this,” she said. “Life, it goes fast, and you just gotta take every second in and every moment I get with my family and my parents is something I’m going to be very present in.”
Noting that she and Kurt have already worked together on the 2016 film Deepwater Horizon, the 46-year-old—mom to Ryder, 22, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, Bingham, 14, with ex Matt Bellamy, and Rani, 7, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa—shared that “it would be amazing if I got the opportunity to work with my mom.”
Though the family has no projects in the works, Kate is leaving the opportunity up to fate.
“It probably will never happen but we’ll see,” she said, “put it out there.”
She jokingly added, “It would be like Arrested Development.”
While a project alongside her star-studded fam is yet to be developed, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star revealed what it’s like to have her family’s support in the entertainment industry.

After all, Goldie—mom to son Oliver Hudson, 49, with ex-husband Bill Hudson as well as son Wyatt Russell, 39, with Kurt, who is also dad to 46-year-old son Boston Russell with ex-wife Season Hubley—accompanied her daughter to the 2026 Oscars, where Kate was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Song Sung Blue.
“I had my son Ryder, I had my dad, I had my mom, I had my husband,” she explained of the evening. “I mean, he’s not really my husband but he’s basically my husband. It was a really, really special night.”
The Bride Wars star added, “It’s really amazing to share those moments with your family.”

And since Kate’s family is no stranger to showbiz, she said she felt an extra sense of support knowing they just get it.
“It was really interesting for me because my family is a part of the industry and loves the industry and so there’s a familiarity and an understanding,” she explained. “There’s recognition that’s sort of different than if you grew up in a family that wasn’t and didn’t understand the business.”
Although Kate is still waiting to team up with her mom on another project, she was able to work with another special costar in Running Point season two, out on Netflix April 23: Jake From State Farm made an appearance in partnership with the insurance company.
“More people were star-struck [on set] like, ‘Is that Jake from State Farm?'” Kate quipped. “I feel so lucky that our show was his first foray into the film and television world.”
