Watch: Jorginho Speaks Out After “Misunderstanding” With Chappell Roan, Security Guard & Daughter Ada Law
Jorginho is getting the job done.
One month after the soccer star accused Chappell Roan of siccing a security guard on his stepdaughter Ada—who his wife Catherine Harding shares with ex Jude Law—he cleared the air about the debacle.
“I made my initial statement in the heat of the moment, after hearing that my child and wife had been approached by an adult male security guard in an intimidating way,” Jorginho began in an April 13 statement shared on his Instagram Story. “I reacted as any father would. My priority is, and always will be, protecting my family, and that is exactly what l did.”
But after both Chappell and the security guard denied the accusation and clarified that neither were associated with each other, the 34-year-old said his “understanding of parts of what happened” has changed.
“Chappell Roan made a public statement, reached out privately to Catherine, and our teams also spoke directly,” he explained. “It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them.”
“She was understanding and sympathetic to what had happened to our child,” continued the athlete, who married Catherine last year. “It’s important to me that this is clarified fairly and accurately. I regret the impact this situation has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada, and our family.”
Acknowledging that “things were not quite what they seemed at first,” Jorginho noted, “I also want to make clear that the situation did occur as it was originally described. At the time, we acted on the information that was available to us.”
“It was, ultimately, a misunderstanding in that respect, and I am glad to set the record straight,” he added. “As far as l am concerned, this matter is closed.”

Indeed, Chappell did not send the security guard to accost the 11-year-old, who Jorginho previously said was “extremely shaken and cried a lot” over the confrontation.
“No one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel,” the Grammy winner shared in a March 22 Instagram Story, adding that the bodyguard in question was “not my personal security.”
The security guard later identified himself as Pascal Duvier and confirmed that he was not employed by Chappell.

“I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan,” he wrote in a March 25 Instagram post. “The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.”
Explaining how there was a “heightened overall security risk” at the time, Pascal said he approached Ada and her mother “with good intentions.”
“The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals,” he added, “and the outcome of the encounter is regretful.”
