Watch: Jon Gosselin Defends Son Collin Gosselin Over “Heartbreaking” Memoir
Netflix is now plus three Gosselins.
Nearly two decades after viewers were introduced to the family through Jon & Kate Plus 8 ended, Jon Gosselin and kids Collin Gosselin and Hannah Gosselin are prepared to get real once more in an upcoming Netflix documentary. And they aren’t planning to hold back, diving into the trials and tribulations that have plagued their family in the decade since the TLC series ended.
“Years later, conflicting accounts have emerged from within the family itself—competing memories of the same childhood, the same home, the same spotlight,” the streamer teased in an Oct. 21 press release. “The new documentary takes a closer look, piecing together the story from every angle: The children who grew up on camera, the adults who built a brand around them, and the audience that couldn’t look away.”
“It’s an intimate look,” the description read, “at how real life became a phenomenon the world thought it knew.”
However, the documentary and its participants highlight the divide in the family over the last several years. Jon’s ex Kate Gosselin as well as the former couple’s other six kids—26-year-old twins Mady and Cara, plus sextuplets Alexis, Aaden, Leah and Joel—aren’t slated to participate in the project as of yet. Of course, that’s not exactly a shock given that Collin remains estranged from all of his siblings except Hannah.
For his part, Collin stepped out of the shadow to detail his perspective of his upbringing in his explosive memoir In the Shadow of Eight, during which he maintained he was exploited as a child through his work on the show.

“I was the only one who voiced it,” the sextuplet recently told E! News during an exclusive interview, “and my mom retaliated against me because I wasn’t willing to give in and be a part of the paycheck and the program.”
Collin also accused Kate, 51, of abuse, recounting how she allegedly separated him from his siblings and even once bound his wrists and ankles with zip ties before later sending him to a mental health facility.

“Most days, I spent about 70 percent of my time locked in that room,” he recalled. “The rest was split between meeting with my teacher, eating alone without my siblings, cleaning up after everyone or pretending to be happy when the cameras came around. That was my life.”
E! News reached out to reps for Kate and TLC about the accusations in Collin’s book and has not heard back. However, this past June, Kate referred to her son’s accusations as “ridiculous” in the comment section of her TikTok page.
And earlier this month, Kate responded to a supporter’s comment calling out “terrible lies” in Collin’s book by writing on TikTok, “Thank you so much. I know logical ppl or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here.”
While fans wait for more updates on the new Gosselin doc, keep reading for every bombshell revelation made in Collin’s recently released memoir In the Shadow of Eight.
