In the City’s Kenny Martin Calls Out Lindsay Hubbard’s “Hypocrisy”

In the city that never sleeps, neither does the drama.

And In the City‘s Kenny Martin knows that for a fact following his contentious feud with costar Lindsay Hubbard during season one of the Bravo reality series.

“I respect the hell out of Lindsay because she’s built an amazing career for 10 years. The show wouldn’t be a show without Lindsay,” Kenny explained to E!’ Hot Goss hosts Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts IIV in an exclusive interview. “But she is very much like a, ‘You’re either with me or you’re not,’ and if you’re not, it can get very ugly.”

From their first meeting on camera, when Lindsay questioned Kenny’s relationship with girlfriend Whitney Fransway, the Summer House star and the couple butted heads.

The animosity reached a tipping point during the cast trip to Connecticut when Whitney accused Lindsay of using the “mom card” to call dibs on the best room in their rental house, despite the trip being a celebration for newlyweds Yvonne Najor and Nick Barber.

While rehashing their beef during the show’s reunion special earlier this month, Lindsay made it very clear she did not accept Whitney’s apology for the “mom card” comment.

“She’s become doctorate level at shifting a narrative,” Kenny argued. “Yvonne and the room situation, it was a kind gesture. All of a sudden it’s a narrative to Whitney hating women and hating moms. She’s good.”

As such, the venture capitalist doesn’t regret dubbing Lindsay’s allies in their friend group her “minions”—although he’d now tweak his framing slightly.

“Listen, maybe it’s not the right word,” Kenny admitted. “It’s nothing against women, I would have said it to a guy or a girl. There were just multiple instances throughout the season where I would look up and it would be five people coming at me.”

It was a pattern he also saw other costars—including Lindsay’s former BFF Danielle Olivera—face as well.

He continued, “I’d look up, five people going at Danielle. So, there were multiple occasions where everyone seemed to have the same opinion and that opinion was Lindsay’s opinion.”

So, when it came to Lindsay’s take on his relationship with Whitney, Kenny found it comical given the former PR pro had previously slammed Danielle’s comments about her and Carl Radke’s failed engagement.

“I think there’s a lot of hypocrisy coming from that side of the table,” the Bravo star said, “in terms of her criticism of my relationship and then starting some rumors about my relationship and trying to put it on camera. So, when I saw her doing the same thing to Danielle, I felt for her. Especially when it became this five on one kind of vibe.”

While there’s no telling where Kenny and Lindsay’s relationship will go from here now that season one is wrapped, he did throw out a pie-in-the-sky idea regarding his single costars Lindsay and Kyle Cooke’s love lives next season.

“Maybe Kyle and Lindsay will give it a go one day,” he posited with a laugh. “They’ve got a deep relationship and you never know.”
