Texas football is just 24 hours from the beginning of SEC play. Two undefeated teams will clash Saturday and battle of top 15 teams.
The Longhorns (3-0) beat UTSA in Austin last week and stayed atop the AP poll for the second straight week. Longhorn edge rusher Colin Simmons did not play in the second half due to an undisclosed injury but is expected to be “fine,” according to head coach Steve Sarkisian.

He’ll be trying to chase down Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon.
The trip to Knoxville will be the Longhorns’ first. The No. 14 Volunteers are also 3-0 and beat their opponents (Kennesaw State, Georgia Tech and Furman) by an average of 33.6 points.
The previous SEC opener did not go as planned for Texas. The Longhorns took the journey Oct. 4, 2025 to Florida and was swamped by the Gators in a 29-21 loss that saw Arch Manning throw two fourth-quarter interceptions.
