The Special Adviser on E-GIS and Urban Development to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dr Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, has advised stakeholders in the building industry to always follow laws and regulations.
Babatunde noted that this is necessary in order to avoid incessant building collapses in the country.
He spoke during a press briefing held in honour of a veteran town planner, late Chief James Oladosu Babatunde.
According to him, non-compliance with regulations is responsible for incessant building collapses in the country.
He said, “In those days there were some practices that we observed but people are not doing that now.
“It is not right to sleep at construction sites. There is no more monitoring.
“People are no not monitoring building construction. The only way to avoid building collapses is to follow the regulations and extant laws.”
