The lawmaker representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Victor Umeh, has slammed President Bola Tinubu over his plan to borrow more funds.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Senator Umeh said Nigerians are groaning and suffering under the current administration.
He lamented the state of the economy.
According to him, the resources in the country have been poorly managed.
“We are overborrowing. Citizens are groaning. We are suffering. Even the rich also cry now in Nigeria. The resources in the country have been poorly managed,” Umeh said.
He was reacting to President Tinubu’s request to the National Assembly for approval to borrow fresh funds.
He questioned why the government is still borrowing despite the removal of fuel subsidy and increasing revenue.
The lawmaker urged President Tinubu to cut the cost of governance instead of overborrowing.
