Manchester United have decided to keep Michael Carrick as manager for now, despite serious discussions about sacking him.
According to The Athletic, there are three key reasons behind the decision.
The first is the club’s finances. Sacking Carrick and bringing in a replacement would be expensive, particularly if United decide to pursue ex-Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.
Secondly, United’s hierarchy is not completely convinced or united on the available candidates to replace Carrick.
Lastly, senior officials at Old Trafford could wait until the upcoming break to give a new manager more time to settle in.
However, this weekend’s trip to Chelsea in the Premier League could yet have consequences if the team puts up another dismal performance.
