Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has apologised to Aston Villa, the owners of the Premier League club and its fans after making comments which prompted the club to take legal action against him.
Carragher had told Aston Villa fans to “shut the f*** up” and also criticised the club as he compared them to Manchester United.
The former England international spoke ahead of Aston Villa’s Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday.
He was calling on Man United to sign Aston Villa manager Unai Emery to take over from Michael Carrick.
However, Carragher has now apologised for his comments, insisting that he was wrong.
“I’d like to apologise to Aston Villa, the owners & their fans. My language this week was clumsy & wrong,” Carragher wrote on X.
