Taiwo Awoniyi has reacted to his maiden Premier League goal for Coventry City, DAILY POST reports.
Coventry City recorded a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the CBS Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Awoniyi netted the hosts’ second goal of the game eight minutes before the break.
The Nigeria international dispossessed Luke O’Nien before finishing past Robin Roefs.
The 29-year-old credited Coventry’s collective performance and explained how the team’s counter-pressing approach created his scoring opportunity.
“I think the most important thing is the three points. I think the team from the outset played good together, the gameplan worked,” Awoniyi told the Premier League website.
Frank Lampard’s side have recorded nine points from nine matches this season.
Coventry City will travel to Everton for their next league game.
