Watch: Ed Sheeran Hints at Taking Hiatus From Music After His LOOP Tour
Ed Sheeranis thinking out loud.
Indeed, the 35-year-old revealed his plans to take a break from music after his current LOOP Tour during his Glendale, Arizona show June 13.
“I might take some time off once this tour has ended,” Sheeran explained in a video shared to social media, “and do the dad thing.”
While it may be a bit of a shock for fans, the father of two—who shares Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 4, with wife Cherry Seaborn—has previously shared the impact of touring life on his family through his songs.
“You’re too young to understand that Daddy’s coming home,” he sings in “Regrets” off of his most recent album Play. “Every time I leave the house, you think I’m forever gone. Guess it’s from the 100 calls, goodnights on the telephone. See this tour, I’ve gotta get it done, but why though?”
Even with the difficulties, the “Perfect” singer worked hard to find a good work-life balance during his three-year long Mathematics Tour, which began in April 2022 and ended in September 2025.
In fact, Sheeran even relocated his family to the United States temporarily so that his kids could be closer to him while he’s performing across the country.
“I’m going on tour there for a while and I have a family, so I can’t dip in and out,” he explained on The 2 Johnnies Podcast in September 2025. “We’re going and settling there.”
Sheeran further detailed his desire to have his family close, saying that he believes “my life only works when we’re together.”

“I really enjoy my career,” he continued on the YouTube series Last Meals in October 2025. “I love touring, I love songwriting. Touring has gotten to a point now, because of where my career’s at, that it can fit around my family and I can dictate what I do.”

Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi have since moved to the Cotswolds, deciding to stay put in November 2024 after Donald Trump‘s reelection, the talk show host told to Richard Bacon in a July 2025 conversation at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham.”It’s absolutely beautiful,” she gushed about the English countryside, per the BBC. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture—everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.”It’s clean,” Ellen continued. “Everything here is just better—the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here. We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks.”
