Watch: How Olivia Wilde Says Tom Cruise Reacted to Her Being Served Onstage
Don’t worry, darling, Olivia Wilde is doing just fine.
The Invite director addressed speculation about her health after a red carpet photo of her from the San Francisco International Film Festival went viral in April. For Wilde, it was “insane” to see social media users claim, as she put it, that she was “looking like an actual dead body.”
“We did the [red carpet], and then I saw that picture and I was like, ‘Alright, but it probably won’t go very far. No one’s going to see this,'” Wilde said on the June 17 episode of Call Her Daddy. “And then suddenly it was f–king everywhere. And I was like, ‘Oh, my God.'”
The 42-year-old recalled people saying “she’s definitely sick” and “she’s dying,” even adding, “People were diagnosing me with Graves’ disease,” an autoimmune disorder that can lead to weight loss.
In the moment, the Don’t Worry Darling actress found the entire mixup “undeniably hilarious,” but clarified the image was simply taken from a bad angle.
“All of us have had this situation where you take a bad picture,” she explained. “Imagine if then it was in, like, a hundred million people’s phones and you’re like, ‘Oh no! That is not how I actually look.’ I laughed so hard.”
Meanwhile, Wilde noted that she and her inner circle had a blast as the picture went viral.

“The thing that is great about having really good friends is that they are the ones to laugh the hardest,” she shared. “I guarantee any joke that’s been made about me, my friends made it first, in a much funnier way.”
But while Wilde said the situation emphasized her belief that misogyny is alive and “the internet doesn’t know how to talk about a woman,” she conceded that the conversation about the viral picture was warranted.
“On that one, I’ll hand it to them, that picture was so crazy,” she concluded. “I, too, would’ve been like, ‘Is she OK?'”
