Florida State seemed to be in a great spot to land 2027 three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis during the spring and early part of summer. They got a prediction to land him in April after an unofficial visit, and then received another one in June while he was on an official visit.
Lewis committed two weeks after that, but it was shockingly to the Syracuse Orange. However, FSU is still lingering around the 6-foot-4, 260-pounder. In fact, he mentioned that a visit to see the Seminoles could take place in November.

“Visiting Syracuse next weekend and possibly the FSU vs. Florida game after Thanksgiving,” Lewis said via Noles247.
Lewis is the No. 525 prospect in the country and the No. 64 defensive lineman per the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the state of Florida’s No. 42 prospect.
Over a two-week span, Florida State’s defense only allowed seven points apiece to the Central Arkansas Bears and the Virginia Cavaliers during a two-game winning streak. They didn’t play well against the Louisville Cardinals in a blowout loss, but despite giving up 43 points in a double overtime defeat to the Miami Hurricanes last week, their defense made key stops that kept them in the game.
It still hasn’t been the best year for FSU’s defense as a whole, but the recent strides have caught the eye of Lewis.

“I’m committed to Syracuse, so that’s my main priority, but Florida State’s defensive production is very intriguing to watch,” Lewis said.
The Seminoles have four-star Sam LeJeune and three-star Eric Vaulx Jr. committed in 2027 on the defensive line. Getting Lewis to flip would be a very nice boost to the haul on the interior.
