Watch: See Bridget Fonda, 62, on Rare Outing After Quitting Hollywood
Bridget Fonda is finding a life away from Hollywood.
The Single White Female actress made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles Nov. 2, over 24 years after she last graced the screen in the 2002 mini series Snow Queen.
The 62-year-old kept it casual for her lunch outing with a friend, wearing a white T-shirt paired with black sweats and an oversized yellow button-down shirt. She completed her look with a black bag, white sneakers and her hair in a ponytail.
Fonda has done her best to stay out of the spotlight since retiring from acting, instead keeping her focus on her 23-year marriage to musician and composer DannyElfman and raising their 21-year-old son OliverElfman.
And as the Jackie Brown actress admitted, she has no desire to return to her acting career, telling a photographer in 2023, per the Daily Mail, “It’s too nice being a civilian.”
Being a civilian has also helped set her apart from the rest of her famous family, as Fonda is the granddaughter of classic Hollywood star HenryFonda, the daughter of actor PeterFonda and his first wife Susan Brewer, as well as the niece of actressJane Fonda.
And despite growing up among Hollywood royalty and raised by a father who was a leading figure in the counterculture movement with his 1969 film Easy Rider, Fonda has been candid about how normal her childhood was.

“People imagine that I was dumped in the corner of a series of drug-fuelled orgies, and that we were like savages in the bush,” she toldThe Guardian in 2000, “but it wasn’t like that at all. I grew up around adults who were imaginative and spontaneous, sure, and it was fantastic to go on that ride.”
Though she had an unconventional childhood—recalling how she would hang out on Malibu beach with her godfather LarryHagman—Fonda’s parents also emphasized “discipline” with her.

“I called everyone mister and missus, like friends’ parents and teachers, even though it was a time when everyone was insisting on being called by their first names,” Fonda said. “I always washed my hands before I ate, and used a napkin.”
“My dad may have been a hippy biker in the public mind,” she added, “but he was always a classy, well-turned-out hippy.”
