Watch: Jaime Pressly Details Working With Costars on Mom Amid Anna Faris, Chuck Lorre Drama
French Stewart still considers Anna Faris like family.
That’s why the Mom star, who played Faris’ overzealous boss on the CBS sitcom for seven seasons, defended her on social media following series creator Chuck Lorre‘s less than flattering comments about the actress in his memoir.
“I was disheartened to see Chuck Lorre throw her under the television bus in his new book,” Stewart penned on Instagram Oct. 21. “I’ll say this. Whenever I saw Anna—I saw a woman working hard to make a good show.”
Stewart applauded the Scary Movie alum as one of his “all time favorite costars” who “delivered on show night.” And the actor is no stranger to a TV set, given his work on ensemble comedies like 3rd Rock From the Sun, The Middle and The Horrible Terrible Misadventures of David Atkins.
“The vast majority of my eight years on Mom was spent working with Anna,” Stewart continued. “She was Mom. The spine of the show. And a legit good person.”
In addition to witnessing the House Bunny actress’ comedic chops, Stewart also worked alongside Allison Janney, who starred as Faris’ mom, and Jaime Pressly, who played their friend, socialite Jill Kendall.
For Stewart, Faris was always “Funny. Kind. Prepared.” But his review of working with Lorre—who hinted that Mom‘s cancellation was tied to Faris departing “for mysterious reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show”—wasn’t as glowing.
“Whenever I saw Chuck—I saw a man trying hard not to turn into a werewolf,” the 62-year-old wrote. “That was my experience. I wouldn’t trade a day working with her.”

Pressly too spoke highly of her run with the female-led cast.
“I just really thoroughly enjoyed being able to go to work with girlfriends every day,” she exclusively told E! News. “All of us of a certain age, it was nice. It was refreshing.”
And the Hot Chick actress isn’t the only one who left a hit production while it was still on air. Read on for other stars who exited popular TV shows.
