Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of plotting to rig the 2027 general elections, warning that any such move will be resisted.
In a post on his X handle on Sunday, Melaye said the recent activities of the electoral umpire point to what he described as “anticipatory rigging”.
“The activities of INEC in recent times point at anticipatory rigging. Which will be resisted,” Melaye wrote.
The former lawmaker said INEC must redeem itself ahead of the polls.
“INEC must be born again this time because we will not allow rigging. Rig and say your final prayer,” he added.
Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has been a vocal critic of INEC since the last general elections.
His outburst comes amid growing controversy over AI-generated photos discovered in the preliminary voters’ register and complaints by political parties over omission of candidates from the final INEC list.
