    Now you see Woody Harrelson‘s date night.

    Because very often you won’t. After all, his wife Laura Louie was on hand to celebrate the actor and Matthew McConaughey‘s new comedy series Brothers during the Los Angeles premiere on Sept. 17.

    For their extremely rare red carpet outing together, Harrelson wore a patterned gray button down and matching trousers while his wife of nearly 20 years paired a colorful floral skirt with an eggplant-colored sweater.

    Though Harrelson, 65, and Louie, 61, don’t often step out together on the red carpet, it’s no surprise that she was on hand this time around. After all, the comedy series features the Cheers alum and McConaughey as fictional versions of themselves who realize they may, in fact, be brothers.

    And art may just be imitating life as the longtime BFFs have often discussed whether that could actually be the case, given their parents—Kay McConaughey and Charles Harrelson, specifically—may have crossed paths many decades ago. (For his part, The Hunger Games alum recently emphasized to E! News, “I believe it 100 percent.”)

    Beyond his brotherly bond with McConaughey, another aspect of Harrelson’s life could be destined for the screen: his 1987 meet-cute with his future wife.

    “This media workshop came to see Cheers,” he recalled to The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. “I was there eight years, and in all that time, we only talked to one group, and it just happened to be this group. UCLA put it on, but it was people from all over. And at some point, I was like, ‘Hey, does anybody here have secretarial skills? ‘Cause I could really use an assistant.’ And this young woman, Laura Louie, raised her hand.”

    It wasn’t until three years later that they admitted their feelings for each other, with them later going on to welcome daughters Deni Harrelson, 32, Zoe Harrelson, 29, and Makani Harrelson, 20, before tying the knot in 2008.

    And though Louie only occasionally joins her longtime love in the public eye—stepping out for the 2026 World Cup and U.S. Open as well as the Mark Twain Prize ceremony in recent months—Harrelson has often emphasized what it means to have her and their kids in his corner.

    “I frequently think of my situation,” he explained to THR. “Just having this family who has been so loving and so kind to me—like, more than I deserve, maybe. And in some ways I think that has mellowed me. Maybe ‘mellowed’ isn’t the right word, but it has softened those areas that were too hard.”

No matter what, we want to work it out.”

Fox & Tracy PollanOver 37 years into marriage, the actors have mastered the art of fighting fair. “Tracy and I don’t pick scabs,” explained the Family Ties alum. “In some marriages, people look at their partner and see vulnerability and they just can’t help but go after that vulnerability, like it’s a sport or something. We don’t do that.” That’s not to say they don’t have arguments. “If I’ve said something stupid, I have the tendency to want to take it back and make it all okay,” he said. “But that doesn’t really work.” Instead, he follows her lead and tries to give her space. She, in turn, offers up understanding: “Sometimes you just have to say to yourself, ‘You know what? He said something schmucky and it made me feel bad. You can try, but they’re always going to resent it,” she explained matter-of-factly. “I don’t think you should marry anyone with the expectation of changing who they are.”

News in April 2025, “My wife—being patient as I traipse around the world, going from job to job—she’s kept our family stable.
