The WNBA will expand its regular season schedule to 50 games beginning next season. Teams currently play 44 games.
“Demand for the WNBA has never been greater and expanding to a 50-game regular season reflects the extraordinary momentum we are seeing across the league,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert in a news release. “This move reflects our commitment to growing the game and creating more opportunities for fans to watch the best players in the world and experience the extraordinary talent and competition that define the WNBA.”

The WNBA said additional details regarding the change will be announced at a later date.
The Indiana Fever played 32 games their first season in 2000, it increased to 34 in 2003 then dipped to 22 due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, 32 in 2021 then 36 in 2022. It increased the schedule to 40 in 2023 and 44 last season.
