The Wisconsin Badgers have firmly been eliminated from any luxurious Big Ten Championship or College Football Playoff conversations after their 30-0 shutout loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Following the loss, the Badgers‘ record drops to 5-3, and while they are still in contention for a bowl game, Saturday provided a big step backwards in momentum.

While there will be plenty of stick to go around the team, perhaps none should be aimed at more than offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes.
Grimes came to Wisconsin following one season at Kansas and several other stops in the college game since 1995, starting with Rice as a graduate assistant.
So far in Grimes’ two seasons, the Badgers have solidified themselves not just at the bottom of the Big Ten or the bottom of power-conference football, but also at the bottom of the FBS.
This year, Grimes’ offense ranks 126th-best in the nation with 305.7 yards per game. In games against power-conference opposition, the Badgers have totaled a high of just 31 points against Michigan State who is the midst of a massive rebuild themselves.

In Wisconsin’s most recent loss, quarterback Colton Joseph and Co. finished with just 235 yards, 183 through the air and just 52 on the ground.
Keep in mind, 93 of those passing yards came from Ryan Hopkins after Joseph was benched late in the third quarter.
