    Why Kate Hudson Is Hesitant About Danny Fujikawa Wedding

    Kate Hudson isn’t ready to live out bride wars IRL.

    Despite getting engaged to Danny Fujikawa in 2021, the Almost Famous star explained one reason she’s not looking forward to wedding planning: the price tag.

    “That’s part of why I don’t want to get married—it’s too expensive,” she shared on the Sept. 8 episode of her Sibling Revelrey podcast. “I just want hors d’oeuvres. I wanna do, like, chips and salsa.”

    Another holdup for the actress—who shares daughter Rani, 7, with Danny; son Bingham, 15, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy; and son Ryder, 22, with ex-husband Chris Robinson—is the fact that she has “such a huge family” and would struggle to whittle down the guest list.

    “I still am not married. I’m just engaged, and I keep thinking about wedding, like what are we gonna do,” Kate explained earlier in the episode. “And then every time we start thinking about who we have to invite, Danny’s like, ‘I just want a small wedding.’ I’m like, ‘Our family alone is like 50 people.’”

    As she put it, “There’s a million kids. There’s a million uncles and aunts and cousins.”

    That’s why her brother Oliver Hudson had a firm rule when he married Erinn Bartlett in 2006.

    “My wedding was controversial with my wife, because we did it in Mexico,” he shared on the episode. “We only had 80 people. I did not want to meet anyone at my wedding for the first time. So, I said to Erin, ‘Look, your girlfriends from high school—I get it, they’re your girlfriends, but, I’m sorry, the husbands can’t come.'”

    Oliver quipped, “Maybe I’m an a–hole, but I don’t want to be like, ‘Congratulations,’ ‘Hi, what’s your name? Doug? Really nice to meet you.'”

    Instead, the siblings—whose parents are Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, though they were also raised by Goldie’s longtime partner Kurt Russell—would rather focus their love on their immediate family and their partners. 

    After all, Kate has credited Danny with being her ultimate teammate in life.

    “I’ve got the best man,” she told Women’s Health in 2019. “It’s the first time I feel like I have a real teammate in this. We’re able to pick up where the other one has to leave off.”

    “If I have to go to a dinner meeting, he can be home,” she continued. “His number one priority is family. And when we have our disputes, I feel the thing that allows us to get through them is having the same ultimate goal, and that includes being in each other’s life. It just feels so nice.”

    Mom Goldie Hawn, Father Bill HudsonGoldie married West Side Story actor Gus Trikonis in 1969. They separated in 1973 but the actress didn’t file for divorce until after she got engaged to Bill, a member of the Hudson Brothers band, toward the end of 1975.After her divorce was finalized, Goldie and Bill wed on July 3, 1976.     Son Bingham “Bing” Hawn BellamyKate welcomed son Bingham with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy on July 9, 2011, naming him in honor of Matt’s mother, Marilyn Bingham and Kurts’ dad Bing Russell. The pair got engaged but confirmed in December of 2014 that they were no longer together.”Relationships ending are painful, and you can choose to carry that or you can choose to reframe it,” Kate told Allure in 2015. “If Matt and I had a great relationship, we would still be together, but we chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives.     Rani Rose Hudson FujikawaKate started dating musician Danny Fujikawa in 2016 and they welcomed daughter Rani on Oct. 2, 2018. Danny, a friend for years before they get together, popped the question in 2021.“I hope we get married!” Kate told the Sunday Times in 2022. “We’re not in a hurry. The last thing I need right now is to plan a wedding on top of everything else, but I’m excited about it. Last night he was going through some old footage on his phone of him and Rani and it melted my heart. I didn’t even really put him in school until he was 10, whereas I’m far more structured with my other kids.”When not in school, however, Rani gets to jet around the world with her mom and dad, and, in 2024, she starred in a SKIMS holiday campaign with her parents, brothers, uncle Oliver’s family and grandma Goldie.
