Why Jorge Posada doesn’t think Yankees want him to return appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Jorge Posada is one of the better catchers in recent memory. He spent his entire MLB career in New York with the Yankees — debuting in 1995 and retiring in 2011. During the prime of his career, it seemed as if Posada and the Yankees would always have some form of a relationship even after he left the sport. Posada recently made an admission during an appearance on The Show with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman that refutes that narrative, via New York Post Sports.

“I could,” Posada said of potentially joining the Yankees coaching staff if offered a position, “but I don’t think they want me there to tell you the truth.”
It’s an attention-grabbing admission to say the least. Posada earned five All-Star selections and helped New York win four World Series championships, and now he doesn’t feel wanted by the Yankees?

“I don’t feel welcome when I go there,” Posada responded when asked why he doesn’t feel wanted by the team. “You know, even in spring training… I don’t feel welcome. I don’t feel like they want me there, so I don’t go.”

The idea of Posada coaching someday has been mentioned in the past. It isn’t uncommon for catchers to become managers. Posada has even shared his opinions on the Yankees recently, and it seems like he’d bring much-needed value to the ball club.
If the Yankees have any level of hiring Jorge Posada to join Aaron Boone’s coaching staff — or perhaps even becoming the manager someday — they will need to fix the relationship.
