Watch: Is Bachelorette Over? Rachel Lindsay Sounds Off on Taylor Frankie Paul Cancellation
Morgan Gillory won’t be solving any more crimes any time soon.
High Potential fans will have to wait a little longer than expected for the show’s season three premiere as ABC won’t be bringing the Kaitlin Olson-starring procedural back until next year.
The drama’s delay was confirmed May 12 as the network announced its fall 2026 TV lineup—during which it was not among other fan-favorites like Scrubs, Abbott Elementary 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy.
As for why ABC decided to keep High Potential, which concluded its second season in April, on hiatus until midseason?
“What we’ve seen the last several years, and we’ve really proven this out with Will Trent and The Rookie back in midseason of ’24 and ’25,” ABC’s SVP of Content Strategy and Scheduling Ari Goldman explained during the May 12 presentation, “is we want to give viewers a chance to watch these shows with as little interruption as possible across the season.”
“So, I think when we get to the midseason plans,” he continued, “and you think about the opportunities that we have on the ABC schedule, going from New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to the College Football Playoff, the Grammys, the Oscars and obviously the Super Bowl. I think we have such amazing momentum at the start of ’27 to bring the show back in a big way.”
Plus, referencing how the High Potential audience grew between seasons one and two, Goldman noted, “Clearly, the show is resilient.”

Instead, fans can get their fix of crime-solving when R.J. Decker—starring Scott Speedman as a former newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator—debuts season two in the Tuesday time slot after season 35 of Dancing With the Stars.
Shark Tank, 9-1-1: Nashville, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Celebrity Jeopardy! are also among those returning in the fall.

Noticeably absent from the fall 2026 lineup, however, is The Bachelorette, which saw its season starring Taylor Frankie Paul shelved during a domestic violence case with ex Dakota Mortensen. (Ultimately, police declined to file charges in the case.)
When asked if the scrapped season will ever air, Goldman told press, “There are no plans that I’m currently ready to share.”
