The purest test in cycling is here, with the time trials at the UCI World Championships set to jump off Sunday.

The elite men and women will ride the mostly flat 39.2 km course through Montreal to an uphill finish in a race against the clock with rainbow jerseys on the line.
The star attraction Sunday will be Remco Evenepoel, who at age 26 will look for a fourth consecutive time trial gold at worlds. He also won the lone individual time trial stage at this year’s Tour de France on the way to a second-place finish in the general classification.
The women’s race should carry a bit more suspense. Marlen Reusser of Switzerland won last year in Rwanda and is back to defend her title, but will have to contend with the always-strong Dutch contingent led by last year’s third-place finisher Demi Vollering.

The Women’s Elite time trial will start Sunday at 9 a.m. ET, with the men set to leave the gate beginning at 12:45 p.m. ET.
The 39.2 km course through the streets of Montreal will start and finish at Parc Jeanne-Mance.
