Off Campus, Season 2

Amazon scored big with its romantic hockey series Off Campus. A global hit, the show premiered back in May. Based on books by author Elle Kennedy, the series follows the lives and loves of a men’s university hockey team. This new season is set to focus on the relationship between Vancouver-based actor Stephen Kayln’s character Dean and American Mika Abdalla’s Allie. Season 2 began shooting June 2 and will wrap up Sept. 18.

God Of War, Seasons 1 and 2

Dave Bautista took over the role of exiled Greek God Kratos when Ryan Hurst was injured in June and surgery to his bicep would mean the production would be pushed way back. The story follows Kratos and his son Atreus (Callum Vinson) as they embark on a perilous (of course it is) journey to spread Kratos’ wife Atreus’s mother’s ashes. Along the way, they battle monsters and navigate complicated daddy issues. Shooting Seasons 1 and 2 back-to-back, the Amazon live-action adaptation of the videogame went to camera way back on Feb. 25 and is now slated to continue through to April 7, 2027.

Scrubs

The revival of the hugely popular ABC TV series Scrubs is back filming its second season of the new version of the old show that ran on NBC from 2001-2008 before moving to ABC for another two seasons.

The Last Of Us, Season 3

If you see overgrown streets with burned-out cars and trash strewn around your neighbourhood, don’t worry. The apocalypse hasn’t happened … yet. You’ve probably just come across a set for Season 3 of The Last Of Us. The hugely popular HBO videogame adaptation commenced filming in the Lower Mainland on March 2 and will continue through to Nov. 27. The third instalment of the zombie drama is speculated to be the final season and will focus on Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), as she tells the story from the beginning of the zombie apocalypse.

Private Eyes, West Coast, season 1

The Global crime procedural sees North Vancouver’s Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson back as private investigators Matt Shade and Angie Everett. The series, which also airs on The CW in the U.S., began shooting in Victoria on July 22 and is slated to wrap Sept. 25. The series has also already been given a second season order.

This new ABC police procedural is a spinoff of the hit series The Rookie and stars Jay Ellis as Alex Holland. The series follows Holland who becomes the oldest rookie in a Washington State police department. The 10-episode series began production back on Aug. 11 and is slated to finish up shooting Nov. 23.

The Audacity, Season 2

AMC’s new series got a Season 2 order one month before Season 1 premiered on April 12. The series focuses Duncan Park ((Billy Magnussen) an ambitious CEO of a data-mining firm called PINATA (Privacy is Not a Thing Anymore), whose bank account grows but his personality falters. The cast includes Sarah Goldberg, Zach Galifianakis, Simon Helberg, Rob Corddry and Lucy Punch. The series shoots June 16 to Sept. 28.

Very Young Frankenstein, Season 1

Zach Galifianakis, who calls a Gulf Island home, is getting right back to work after The Audacity wraps with Very Young Frankenstein for FX. The comedy series, inspired by Mel Brooks’ 1974 classic Young Frankenstein is set to begin filming here on Nov. 2 and go until Dec. 17. Joining Galifianakis in the cast are: Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, Kumail Nanjiani and Cary Elwes. Taika Waititii directed the pilot.

The Probability of Miracles

The Probability of Miracles is Amazon Prime’s adaptation of Wendy Wunder’s YA novel about a cynical 16-year-old girl with terminal cancer who moves from Florida to Promise, Maine — a town folks say has magical, life-altering properties. While there searching for a miracle, she embarks on some bucket list action, falls in love and learns what it means to truly live. The production began shooting June 22 and runs until October. 2.

Life is Strange

Amazon Prime’s Life is Strange the live action TV series adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game franchise began shooting on June 29 and is set to finish shooting season 1 on Oct. 16. The series stars Tatum Grace Hopkins as Max a photography student who discovers she has the supernatural ability to rewind time after she saves the life of her BFF Chloe played by Maisy Stella. While Max tries to get a handle on this new skill, she and Chloe team up to investigate the disappearance of a fellow student.

Fire Country, season 5
Article content
The Lower Mainland will once again stand-in for Northern California in this CBS drama that began shooting season 5 on June 22 and will wrap Nov. 24. Inspired by the real-life Cal Fire (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) program, the series follows a group of firefighters — including incarcerated volunteers — who protect their community while trying to right their lives.

It’s a good guess that season four will continue to have Maddie Nears (Peyton List) and her pals trying to figure the spooky story of Spirit River High. A big question is will the always entertaining (watch The Real House Wives of Beverly Hills) Jennifer Tilly be back for season four as season three ended with her character Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price being possessed by Alfred Van Heidt (Michael Adamthwaite), a very bad spirit with a nefarious agenda. The Paramount+ show went to camera Aug. 21 and is set to wrap Nov. 24.

When Calls the Heart, Season 14

The new season of the hit Hallmark Channel got up and running on Aug. 4 and will wrap Nov. 25. The new season is said to be focusing on Nathan (Kevin McGarry) and Elizabeth’s (Erin Krakow) relationship following their long-awaited engagement at the end of season 13. Also worth noting is the interweb is reporting that Lori Loughlin is set to return to Hope Valley as Abigail Stanton following a surprise cameo in the season 13 finale.

Dylan O’Brien plays Lex a former reality star who accidentally films a murder in the background of a $20 Cameo fan video. Soon he finds himself tangled up in a big mess and is on the run from some very powerful global forces. The comedy/thriller from Hulu will shoot in Vancouver Oct. 15-23. Fun fact: O’Brien stars alongside Vancouver’s Hudson Williams (he of Heated Rivalry fame) in upcoming thriller film Apparatus.

Netflix’s television adaptation of Hannah Grace’s bestselling novel Icebreaker is scheduled to film in Vancouver from October 2 to February 17, 2027. The series focuses on an ambitious figure skater and a college hockey team captain who find themselves sharing the same ice rink. Will love flourish or will feelings be iced? Who knows. There has been no cast news yet for this series.

Things We Never Got Over, Season 1

Things We Never Got Over began production in Vancouver on Sept. 8 and will go until Dec. 15, 2027. The series is based on Lucy Score’s bestselling romance novel and stars Molly Griggs as runaway bride Naomi Witt and her estranged twin sister. The series also stars Tommy Martinez and Matthew Noszka.
