Watch: JFK Jr., Carolyn Bessette’s Wedding Planner Weighs in on Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Wedding Location
Martha Stewart is getting real about her shocking John F. Kennedy Jr. connection.
The homemaking queen made a surprising cameo during The Real Housewives of New York City‘s season 16 premiere, visiting her longtime makeup artist (and new cast member) Daisy Toye for a glam session.
While bonding over their love for FX’s drama Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, Martha revealed a chilling, untold story from the week of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette‘s fatal 1999 plane crash.
“I was with him the Monday before the Friday he died,” the 85-year-old told Daisy during the Bravo series’ Sept. 8 episode. “He called me, I was running Martha Stewart Living magazine, and he called me and said he was in trouble and could he please talk to me about what to do with George, the magazine he started. And I said, ‘Of course, anything you want.'”
So, the two stars met up for a one-on-one meeting that July.
“We had a very nice dinner,” Martha continued, “and at the end of the dinner I said, ‘What are you doing this weekend?’ And he said, ‘We’re going to a wedding on Martha’s Vineyard and I’m taking my wife and her sister.'”
Of course, Martha had no way of knowing that then-38-year-old’s single-engine plane would crash into the Atlantic soon after takeoff, killing him, Carolyn and her sister Lauren Bessette. But she had a bad feeling about the trip, nonetheless.
“I said, ‘Who’s flying?’ He said, ‘I’m flying,'” Martha recounted. “I said, ‘You have a copilot, right?’ He said, ‘No, I don’t need a copilot.'”

Looking back decades later, Martha still can’t believe the eeriness of her warning.
“I’ve thought about that so many times that I told him to get a copilot,” she confessed to Daisy. “I feel sorry.”

And while it isn’t exacty shocking to learn Martha crossed paths with JFK Jr. given they ran in similar elite circles, what is surprising—to Bravo fans at least—is seeing the queen of domesticity hanging out in a humble Manahattan apartment on Real Housewives.
The first time Martha came to my house I was so nervous. ‘Oh my God, it’s not nice enough.’ But now, I don’t care. I live in a little two-bedroom apartment with popcorn ceilings. I don’t care, she loves it.
My apartment’s always Martha Stewart-ready. Always.
What do you have in this kitchen? Store-bought pie! Oh come on. I’ll teach you how to make pie so you don’t ever have to buy a pie.
I can’t believe I didn’t hide that f–king pie. Anything store-bought like that she’ll go nuts.
