There are many layers to the Chicago Bears offense that makes them an intriguing unit coming into the 2026 season, but it’s not all about quarterback Caleb Williams.
With plenty of focus on the rushing attack that was one of the best in the NFL last season, as well as young wide receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden, there’s been some overlooking of the tight end group as a whole.

Adam Amin, who will be on the broadcast for the Bears regular season opener against the Carolina Panthers, revealed that he’s most focused on how head coach Ben Johnson will use the tight end group this year. Led by Colston Loveland who is expected to be a big breakout candidate this year, Amin thinks there will be plenty of unique looks on offense.
“Offensively, it’s tight end usage,” Amin told 104.3 The Score. “It’ll be fascinating to see the continuing trend in the league to go bigger on offense to combat the big defenders on the other side. You may have five or six teams that go 15%+ in terms of three tight end usage. A player like Colston Loveland has a lot of growth opportunity here because he’s a great in-line blocking tight end, and he can step out and play a Z receiver in a couple of formations.”
The Bears could and most certainly will be expected to use their top three tight ends: Loveland, veteran Cole Kmet, and rookie Sam Roush, in a multitude of ways this season. All three can make impacts in the run-blocking game, but all three are also very capable of making plays with the ball in their hands as receivers. Although, none greater than Loveland, who led the team with 713 receiving yards last season.
