GOFFSTOWN – Avery Flynn had 29 assists and 13 digs as the Dover High School volleyball team, the defending Division I state champions, opened with a 3-2 win over Goffstown.
Individual game scores were 21-25, 25-21, 12-25, 25-22, 15-12.

“It was a great win,” Dover head coach Whitney Carrier said. “We have spent a lot of time in preseason putting ourselves in difficult situations so we can learn how to deal with the stress and pressure of struggling through something, and that paid off tonight. They worked really hard as a team and I’m proud of them.”
Molly OConnor added nine kills and four aces for the Green Wave, while Rylen Marchione had seven kills and three blocks.

EXETER — Sophie Provost had nine kills, eight digs and four aces to lead Exeter to a 3-1 season-opening Division I win.

Individual set scores were 25-18, 21-25, 25-23 and 25-20.
Exeter’s Lilly Dale and Jasmine Winham had 16 and 14 assists, respectively.

HUDSON – Emily Pitfick had 36 assists and five digs to lead Winnacunnet to a season-opening Division I win.
Nadia Johnson (eight kills, 11 digs, three aces), Colette Neves (14 kills, seven aces) and Daniela Araujo (seven kills, eight digs) led Winnacunnet.

DURHAM – The Bobcats opened defense of their Division II state championship with this sweep. Individual game scores were 25-15, 25-12, 25-20.
Lizzie Lynskey and Addie Bower starred in the win.

NASHUA – Kathleen Lynch, Khloe Healey and Rachel Moore all scored a goal for Dover in its Division I contest.
Kaitlyn Bastille added two assists for the Green Wave, and goalie Norah O’Malley had nine saves.

PLYMOUTH – Addy Allen, on an assist by Mallory Baker, scored the lone goal for St. Thomas Aquinas in its Division II season-opener.
STA goalie Grace Cayer-Salerma had 14 saves.

FARMINGTON – Dillon Murgatroy had one goal and one assist for Somersworth (1-1) in its Division III game. Harum Karim also scored for the Hilltoppers.

MERRIMACK – McKinley Fowler, Sofia Donatelli, Emily Arlington and Fiona McAfee all scored a goal for Winnacunnet in its Division I win.
McAfee added two assists, and keeper Riley Gagalis had six saves.
Dover wins seven-team invite
KINGSTON – Dover placed four runners in the top 16 and placed first as a team in the seven-team Jamie Martin Cross Country Invitational at Sanborn Regional High School.
Dover’s Nil Anderson covered the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 31 seconds, placing fourth overall.
Dover had a team score of 64, beating Windham (100), Hollis-Brookline (136), Campbell (150), Newmarket (159), Profile (174) and Goffstown (184).

Dover’s Luke Dean (17:25) and Zach Lefebrve (17:29) placed 11th and 12th, respectively, while Finn Polzin (18:04) was 16th.

KINGSTON – Dover placed three runners in the top seven and placed first as a team in the seven-team Jamie Martin Cross Country Invitational at Sanborn Regional High School.
Dover’s Janelle Poulin covered the 3.1-mile course in a first-place time of 19:44.
Dover had a team score of 50, beating Windham (55), Hollis-Brookline (71), Trinity (136), Pelham (146), Campbell (158), and Newmarket (174).
Dover’s Lily Fiorenza (20:46) placed fifth, and Evalee James (21:12) placed seventh.
