Real Madrid enjoyed a memorable visit to the Catalan capital as they defeated their arch-rivals FC Barcelona 2-1 at the Spotify Camp Nou last night. This win in the first El Clasico of the season would certainly boost the Merengue team’s morale, especially as all the players put in the required performance to get this result.
However, one player who particularly stood out was Kylian Mbappe, who scored both the goals for his team. With these two goals, he has taken his goals tally with Los Blancos to 100.

As MARCA has reported, the Frenchman also talked to Real Madrid TV after the match. Despite being the scorer of both the goals, he recognized that it was the team effort that allowed the Merengues to win such a difficult game:
“The truth is that the real protagonists of today’s match are the team and the squad, because we knew we had to put in a man’s performance, a real team performance. We’ve prepared well over the last few matches because we’ve been winning, playing well, maintaining the right mentality and giving everything we’ve got.
We had difficult moments during the match, as well as periods when we dominated. In the end, winning and still being in the title race is very important for us. But we have to keep going. We know this was a big match, but it counts for only three points, and we need to pick up many more points to win the league.”
Despite the team’s recent good run of form, Mbappe commented that they are looking only to win going forward as well:

“It means nothing. This is Real Madrid, and we have to keep going because winning five matches in a row is nothing for us. We want to win every game. This victory at the Camp Nou sends a good message, but we mustn’t think the season is over. Next week in Santander, we have to show the same intensity.”
While highlighting the win, the Frenchman also expressed happiness with scoring two goals in this game:
“I’m very happy, very happy. I think everyone already knows that I love scoring goals and helping the team in that way. But I think it’s just a detail because, as I’ve said, the most important thing is the team’s victory, and I think this will give us a lot of confidence as a group. But yes, I think I’m going to score many more goals, so that’s very important.”
Again, he recognized that playing as a team will allow Real Madrid to win important titles:

“If we want to achieve things this year, we have to do it together, as a team. The quality is certainly there. When you look at the players we have here, anyone who says there isn’t enough quality is a liar. But we have to do everything as a team and as a group, because that’s how we’ll achieve what we want.”
As Kylian Mbappe mentioned, Real Madrid will have to continue playing as a team if they want to maximize their performances and win big titles this season. Meanwhile, stars like him will have to take the reins and drive the team forward with their own performances as well, and hopefully, Jose Mourinho will be able to find the perfect balance between teamwork and individual brilliance to make the Merengue team a truly unstoppable force.
